|
In its latest Online Panel Series, Plus 94 Research ventured to explore how South Africans would describe their own personalities based on the Five Factor Model, and whether they regarded themselves as a Type A or Type B personality. The Type A person is status conscious, ambitious and competitive while the Type B personality is more patient and laid back. A national, demographically representative sample of 488 online South Africans was achieved. The study was completed in April 2012. Results were weighted demographically based on race, gender and age. |

In 2006 Plus 94 Research conducted a public opinion survey among 2000 respondents to establish the opinions of South Africans on whether they experienced race based discrimination when buying products and services in public places. That particular study did establish that 12 years after democratisation racial stereotypes were still a factor in South African society. This current study comes 18 years after democratisation to determine if we had moved beyond the ghosts of the past in our post 2010 South Africa. The survey was conducted by means of email invitations and completion of the questionnaires online by panel members drawn randomly from a dedicated research panel. It must be noted that the 2006 study was conducted face to face among 2000 respondents, and could therefore be slightly different in character to the 2012 study which is based on a sample of the active online population of South Africa. The final sample size was 339 respondents with a 5.3% margin of error at the 95% confidence interval. |

The purpose of this study was to assess New Year optimism going into 2012. Plus 94 conducted this research study against a backdrop of positive economic data from Stellenbosch Bureau for Economic Research that revised South Africa’s gross domestic product growth forecast from 3.4% to 3.8%. The reason for the upward revision is due in part to consumer spending that was higher than expected. The survey sample was drawn from a dedicated Plus 94 Research panel. The survey was conducted by means of email invitations and completion of the questionnaires online by panel members. The final sample was 292 respondents.
